War Cemetery



Second World War warrior’s graveyards are in this Cemetery. There are 755 graves in this graveyard of the great warriors who died in world war from 1939 to 1945 in Chittagong areas. In this well-preserved cemetery at a quiet and picturesque place within the city lie buried in eternal peace over 700 soldiers from British, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, India, Myanmar, East and West Africa, The Netherlands and Japan who laid down their lives on the Myanmar front during the World War II.


Shilaidaha Kuthibari of Rabindranath Tagore



Shilaidaha Kuthibari, the famous residence of Rabindranath Tagore, is located at Kumarkhali.
Kumarkhali is an Upazila of Kushtia District in the Division of Khulna, Bangladesh. It is famous for the Shelaidaha area, where the poet Rabindranath Tagore spent a considerable time of his youth.



High Court Building (Old)


High Court Building (Old) a colonial building in Dhaka situated on Qazi Nazrul Islam Avenue, opposite the picturesque curzon hall, and skirting the Ramna Green. This imposing two-storeyed edifice was originally designed as the official residence of the governor of the newly created province of East Bengal and Assam in the wake of the partition of bengal (1905). On completion of the building, the consulting architect of the government of India considered it unbefitting a governor's residence and therefore it remained vacant. Later it housed the Dhaka Intermediate College and still later, in erstwhile East Pakistan, it was converted into the High Court.


Puthia



Puthia has the largest number of historically important Hindu structures in Bangladesh. The most amazing of the village
s monuments is the Govinda Temple, which was erected between 1823 and 1895 by one of the maharanis of the Puthia estate. Its a large square structure crowned by a set of miniature ornamental towers. Its covered by incredibly intricate designs in terracotta depicting scenes from Hindu epics, which give it the appearance of having been draped by a huge red oriental carpet The ornate Siva Temple is an imposing and excellent example of the five-spire Hindu style of temple architecture common in northern India.


Ramu





This is a typical Buddhist village, about 16 km. from Cox's Bazar, on the main road to Chittagong. There are monasteries, khyangs and pagodas containing images of Buddha in gold, bronze and other metals inlaid with precious stones. One of the most interesting of these temples is on the bank of the Baghkhali River.


Choto Katra




Choto Katra which means the Small Katra. It is one of the Katras built during Mughal's regime in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was constructed in 1663 by Subahdar Shaista Khan and the architectural work was done by him. Choto Katra is rectangular in a plan of 101m X 92m.


Atiya Mosque





Atiya Mosque is situated in the village of Atiya under Delduar Thana in Tangail district, about six kilometers south of the district headquarters. It stands on the east bank of the Louhajang River.
The mosque is small in size, measuring externally 18.29m by 12.


Hoseni Dalan




Hoseni Dalan, also spelt Husaini Dalan, is a Shia shrine in the old part of the Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was built in the 17th century during the Mughal Period. This commemorates the martyrdom of al-Husain, grandson of the Holy Prophet of Islam Mohammed, during the battle of Karbala on 10 October 680 CE. It is said that one Sayyid Murad built the building during the Subedari (Governorship) of Shah Shuja, son of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan.


Bajra Shahi Mosque

Bajra Shahi Mosque is located on the northern bank of a large pond containing a masonry ghat in the village of Bajra under Begumganj thana of Noakhali district. The mosque, according to an inscription fixed over the central doorway, was erected by one Aman Allah in 1741-42 AD during the reign of the Mughal emperor Muhammad Shah. The Bengali and Persian inscriptions fixed over the gateway of the outer wall and on the inside wall of the mosque record that it was thoroughly repaired in the years between 1318 to 1335 BS by the Bajra Zamindars Khan Bahadur Ali Ahmad and Khan Bahadur Mujir Uddin Ahmad. A Bengali inscription on the south wall of the mosque records that Benazir Ustagar of Dhaka executed the repair works.


Mirzapur Jami Mosque



Mirzapur Jami Mosque is situated in Mirzapur village under Atoari thana in Panchagar district, at a distance of about 6km from Atoari on the Atoari - Panchagar road. A Persian inscription on the eastern wall of the mosque records its repair and renovation by one Shaikh Malikuddin in 1252 BS (1831 AD), but no one knows its date of construction. Recently the mosque has undergone thorough renovation by the Department of Archaeology, Bangladesh. There are two old graves to the south of the mosque and to its northeastern corner stands an old well.
